Description
Yirgacheffe is one of the most famous names in coffee, and Kochere is a small, high-altitude area within it known for iron-rich soil. This lot is fully washed: the fruit is removed before the beans dry, which gives a cleaner, lighter and brighter cup than a natural. Expect a tea-like body with citrus and herbal notes. Grown in Kochere, Yirgacheffe, southern Ethiopia Altitude 1,800–2,100 m Varieties Ethiopian heirloom Process Fully washed, dried on raised beds Harvest November–February Grade G2 (specialty grade) The coffee comes from local smallholder farmers who deliver their cherry to washing stations in Kochere. Ethiopia grades coffee by defects and cup quality; G2 is a specialty grade with very few defects allowed. Bag sizes: 1 lb, 5 lb and 15 lb. Store sealed in a cool, dry, dark place. FAQ Washed or natural, what’s the difference? A washed coffee has its fruit removed before drying, so it tastes cleaner and brighter. A natural dries in the fruit and tastes fruitier and heavier. What does G2 mean? Ethiopia’s grades run G1–G5 by defects and cup quality. G1–G2 are specialty grades. Is this coffee roasted? No. It’s green, unroasted coffee for home roasting.
